That in a nutshell is our attitude to the use of AI art in A Thunder of Dragons. We're using it for the prototype game because nobody hires artists for prototypes. Probably we'll use it for the beta release too, but that's not taking payment away from a human artist because we have no budget for art at that stage.
If and when we get as far as a Kickstarter for the official release, a stretch goal then will go to paying artists. (That's how Dave's Patreon has raised money for Inigo Hartas to illustrate his Jewelspider RPG.)
